Collaborating with local resources and partnerships to foster wellness and a drug-free community for our youth, adults and families in the counties of Brunswick, Halifax, and Mecklenburg.

Ann Bishop
Chair
Ann F. Bishop, RN, MSN recently retired from Southern Virginia Higher Education Center where she managed the Center of Nursing Excellence for the last eight years. Ann also served as Director of the Southside Virginia Area Health Education Center since 2015. Before joining SVHEC, Ann was Nurse Manager for Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and prior to that worked in a variety of nursing positions in hospitals and home health settings for over 20 years.

Diane Edmonds
Vice Chair
Dr. Diane Edmonds was born in Stuttgart, West Germany, and raised in Kansas. As the child of a military father, she was afforded the opportunity to live all over the world. However, Virginia has become home since her father’s retirement. Dr. Edmonds graduated from Bluestone Senior High School and went on to further educational endeavors. She has an Associate’s degree in Human Services; Bachelor’s in Sociology and Social Work; Master’s in Community and College Counseling and a Ph.D. in Addiction Counseling/Psychology.
Dr. Edmonds has been in the field of Human Services since 1989. Her current positions are: a Clinical Supervisor/Psychologist for Turning Point Youth & Family Services; College Professor for Southside Virginia Community College teaching Health, Human Services and Psychology classes on numerous campuses, including 2 Dual Enrollment sites: Central of Lunenburg and Greensville High Schools. She is a contract employee for the Court Services Unit teaching Shoplifting Prevention and Substance Abuse groups. In addition, Dr. Edmonds is eligible to teach VASAP.
Dr. Edmonds works with the entire lifespan … from womb to tomb. She provides individual; marriage and family; group counseling and all clinical components for the employees under her supervision. Dr. Edmonds has a passion for helping others and giving back for all the blessings received during this amazing journey. Substance Abuse is her area of expertise, but humanity with grace covers all the areas of Human Services and that is her mission in supporting others in the home, school and community.
Dr. Edmonds was blessed to be married to Sgt. Ronnie Edmonds with the South Hill Police Department and from their union came their beloved son. Tyler graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2019 with his Master’s degree in Public Administration. Dr. Edmonds has a cat named Pumpkin and granddog named Leo.
