SWC member Bryan Price recognized for rural health work
We are so proud to announce that coalition member Bryan Price was named Virginia’s 2021 Community Star by the Virginia Rural Health Association for his efforts to reach deeper into rural communities to connect with underserved groups. Bryan is the Outreach and Education Specialist at University of Virginia Cancer Center, and he serves as board president and chair of the VRHA. Beth O’Connor, the association’s executive director, described Bryan’s work this way:
“Mr. Price has led the Virginia Rural Health Association in pushing the boundaries on addressing health inequities for rural communities. During his time on the board, Mr. Price has encouraged VRHA to consider how lack of representation from minoritized groups prevents the board from fully connecting with the communities VRHA is meant to serve. In the past year, the VRHA board has engaged in intensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training and launched an initiative to address health priorities for LGBTQ+ citizens in our rural communities.”
Congratulations, Bryan!
